The Doon School is a private boarding school for males only in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India. The institution is renowned for providing top-notch instruction and extracurricular activities. The Doon School Dehradun is a senior secondary school (Classes XI-XII) that is associated 

  1. With the International Baccalaureate (IB)
  2. Cambridge International Examinations
  3. The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) (CIE). 

The institution, however, is a boarding school for boys with classes from seventh to twelfth grades. Satish Ranjan Das, a descendant of Indian freedom warrior Chittaranjan Das and former Chief Justice of India Sudhi Ranjan Das, established the Doon School in Dehradun in 1935. The school's first Headmaster was Arthur E. Foot, a former science teacher at Eton College.

Eligibility for admission to The Doon School

Boys are admitted to The Doon School twice a year in January and April. The admissions for students in the 8th grade (C form) in January and the 7th grade (D form) in April, respectively.

  1. A boy must be older than 11 and younger than 12 years in September of the year if giving the entrance exam to be admitted to the seventh grade or  
  2. If appearing for the entrance exam of class 8th candidates must be older than 12yrs and under 13yrs in September of the year.

The Admissions Procedure for Doon School

There are two phases to The Doon School's admissions process:

  • Students must first take an admissions test in one of India's major cities (Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Dehradun). He can prepare for the same at the Verma coaching center. The school gives a written test each year in November. English, mathematics, scientific approach, reasoning, and case study response are the four sections of the test.
  • Students who succeed on the written test are invited to the second level, which is a personal interview. Typically, the interviews take place in December at the School and at a few other places in India (Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Chennai).

However, the Doon School does not admit any students after the eighth grade.

  1. Providing a certified copy of the child's birth certificate.
